Staring Contest with Absurdity Projection mapping + Claymation

Staring Contest with Absurdity

Clay Sculpture, Projection, Animated Video

In a world where we relentlessly pursue success—through slot machines, video games, romantic relationships, or career ambitions—we face a profound question: Is there a rationale behind our outcomes, or are wemerely navigating a realm of randomness?

This clay sculpture, projected with animated eyeballs, engages viewers in a literal staring contest with abstraction. It challenges us to reflect on whether our efforts are driven by purpose or if they are expressions of an inherent absurdity.

LED + Clay Low reliefs

The Amoeba Series explores how we often overlook that people, objects, and ideas are abstract concepts imposed upon our raw perception. By probing the amorphous, abstract nature that continuously melts from the seams of identity and static objects, it draws on semiotics and existential philosophy to reveal how our obsession with "thingness" and identity leads us to perceive these abstractions as fixed and tangible realities. Yet, beneath these static appearances, the series invites reflection on our true nature as liquid, moving forms with oceanic minds and bacteria-filled bodies, each illuminated by a unique inner light.

Destroy the Boy’s Canvas Iterations II

12" x 14" Plasticine Claymation

In Iteration II, titled "Destroy the Boys," the focus shifts to exploring the essential role of destruction in creating new forms. This piece delves into how dismantling and breaking down can be fundamental to the process of innovation and transformation, whether it involves turning raw materials into creative mediums, transforming emotional experiences, or letting go of conceptual identities to make way for the new.

Canvas Iterations: The rectangular canvas, traditionally displayed on the wall or easel, has long been a core element of artistic composition, defining what we consider a painting. In the Clay Canvas series, plasticine clay serves as an alternative medium to explore the potential of the rectangular canvas and the boundaries of the painting process.
