“SAVE OUR SCHOOLS” Brooke Elementary Casey and Raasin in the Sun amassed over 70 self-portraits from K-4 students. Casey digitally documented and collaged these portraits into projections. During the SAVE OUR SCHOOL event, students traced these faces to create one cohesive piece. This innovative approach resulted in a mural that not only represented the school's students but also celebrated and highlighted their unique artistic styles and approaches. Although parents and teachers advocated to keep the school open, Brooke and three other schools were closed for “budgetary” reasons.
