Geraldine’s Place Immersive Space
Geraldine’s Place 2022 offered an immersive journey into the reimagined home of the late artist Geraldine Hickerson, whose mural-covered residence had been previously destroyed. This audiovisual experience guided audiences through four distinct areas of her home, narrating her life story and showcasing various works created throughout her lifetime.
Role: Casey worked closely with Art 84 and the Hickerson family to transform old cell phone pictures of the decaying home into a vibrant, colorful mural-covered representation of its former glory. Casey helped craft a narrative adorned with audiovisual features, integrating image, video and sound bites from the artists archive. Together they produced an immersive story room that ran seamlessly throughout the exhibition (that was later extended). This contribution enhanced the visitor experience, enabling them to not only view Hickerson’s original paintings but also deeply engage with the legacy of Geraldine Hickerson and her artistic journey.
